Emerging Artist Joins Local Metal Fabricators Artisans have been working in the metal arts for centuries using forges, hand hammering and various other methods to bend and shape this rigid medium. Local artist, David Burch, and Drew Harbison of Hydro-Cut, Inc. have merged their expertise to create a unique three dimensional technique that blends old world artisanship with cutting edge technology.
Burch originally joined HCI to help with production work in their Powder-Jack venture. However, through a sequence of auspicious conversations, the two entrepreneurs collaborated on developing a series of three dimensional metal arts for log cabin/ranch home decor. Then, they turned their attention towards bigger things, in the very literal sense.
Three of their scaled art and technology pieces are currently on display through August 10, as part of the Pagosa Springs Arts Council Exhibit "All Things Horse." The pieces, "Mare and Filly" and "Julie's Horse," are a small glimpse of the metal arts being produced by these two locals. For more information contact Anna Harbison at 264-6957.
